The safety and wellbeing of every child at Kanchanjunga Bal Sadan is our highest priority. This policy reflects the principles of the Act Relating to Children, 2075 (2018), the Constitution of Nepal and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Our commitments
- Every child has the right to protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination and corporal punishment, regardless of gender, caste, ethnicity, religion, disability or background.
- Corporal punishment and humiliating treatment are strictly prohibited. We use positive discipline.
- All staff are checked before appointment and briefed on safeguarding responsibilities.
- Children are supervised throughout the school day, including during arrival, dismissal and school trips.
- Visitors must sign in at the office and are not left unsupervised with students.
Designated safeguarding lead
The Principal acts as the designated safeguarding lead, supported by a senior teacher. All concerns are handled confidentially and promptly.
Recognising and reporting concerns
Any staff member, parent or student who has a concern about a child's safety should:
- Tell the Principal or class teacher as soon as possible.
- Never promise a child to keep a disclosure secret; listen calmly and reassure them.
- Record what was seen or said, using the child's own words where possible.
Where there is a risk of serious harm, the School will contact the relevant authorities, including the local Child Welfare Authority, Nepal Police, or the Child Helpline 1098.
Online safety
- Students use computers under supervision, with age-appropriate content filtering.
- Photos of students are published only in line with our Media Consent Policy.
- Staff do not contact students privately through personal social media accounts.
Anti-bullying
Bullying in any form, physical, verbal, social or online, is not tolerated. Incidents are recorded, investigated and addressed with the children and families involved, focusing on restoring relationships and preventing recurrence.
Raising a concern
In an emergency, call Nepal Police: 100 or the Child Helpline: 1098.
